Ironman - a Journey
4 days to go to my 3rd Ironman and the usual doubts and thoughts come to my mind. No matter how much training you do and the amount of training you put in, the last few days are always the same. Ironman is a journey. Its all about pacing and proper execution.
My target is to keep a steady pace from the beginning. A strong swim with the least possible hassel... I dont fancy getting hit for a whole 3.8km in the head. A quick transition but I think this will take a bit longer then expected as the weather looks like its going to be terrible, so loads of clothing on to prepare for the long cold cycle. On the bike my target is to keep an average of 240Watts. If I manage that, it would be really good. The course is quite a tough one, with long drags and a couple of nasty corners so I have to be quite careful. As usual my target for the Marathon is to run the whole way without stopping to walk (excluding a probably pit stop).
Looking forward to Sunday... an early start in the beautful English weather.
Will keep you updated.
