3 days to go for Friendly Tournament Race
Dear All,
There are now three days left for the Friendly Tournament Triathlon to be held on Saturday at 2pm. Certainly all those racing, except myself, are looking forward to a strong performance. This is the first important race of the season for most of you, and for the National Team its a very important race to get selected for the Small Nations Championships. Hopefully all of you are now into their taper mode. There are some people who might prefer to take a 10 day taper and other a 5 day taper. The important thing is to arrive fresh on the start line. Those of you who might be training for some other important races such as an Ironman can just back off the last three days before the race so that not much training is lost, but at the same time you are rested enough to give you best shot.
As you have noticed starting from today the air temperature is increasing. Being that many of you are not used to racing in the afternoon I suggest you start hydrating well starting from today. Try to consume at least 4 liters of water each day and it would be a good idea to include some salt replacements supplements. The last few days should be spent relaxing and doing just enough training not to get stiff. I suggest a few short race pace sections on the bike and run, and maybe a couple of sprints in the swim.
As my friend Bill says.... Pain is temporary, Success is for ever!
Wish you the best of luck for the race.

ps... dont forget that the aerobar, if you are using one, has got to be just level with your front brakes.
